Kristian Nairn, known for his role as Hodor in "Game of Thrones," has withdrawn from the 2025 season of "Strictly Come Dancing" due to unexpected medical reasons. He shared a statement expressing his sadness, saying, "With a heavy heart, I have to step back from this season of Strictly Come Dancing due to unexpected medical reasons. I was truly looking forward to the journey, and I’m deeply sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to seeing me on the dance floor. Thank you all for your support, and I will be back on my feet very soon, in every sense."

Nairn, who was the final contestant announced for the lineup and had acknowledged the physical challenges posed by his height (6'10"), had appeared excited about the opportunity just a short time before his withdrawal.

Sarah James, Executive Producer at BBC Studios, expressed regret about his departure, highlighting his promise as a contestant and wishing him a speedy recovery.

The BBC plans to announce a replacement celebrity contestant on "The One Show" on August 21, 2025. The new season of "Strictly Come Dancing" is set to debut on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in September 2025.
