The National Consensus Commission (NCC) has sent the final draft of the July Charter to political parties, requesting their feedback by 4pm next Wednesday. The charter includes 84 consensus issues from discussions held between March and July 2025, with some dissenting notes. It calls for immediate implementation of certain reforms by the interim government before the next election and urges that the charter’s provisions be incorporated into the constitution, overriding conflicting laws. The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has been given authority for final interpretation of the charter. The document honors the 2024 democratic movement, pledges justice for victims, and recognizes historical political activities related to Bangladesh's Liberation War and uprisings. The charter is positioned as a new political framework reflecting people's aspirations.
