Remittance Inflows Cross $1.26 Billion in First 16 Days of August
Bangladeshi expatriates sent $1.26 billion in remittances during the first 16 days of August, according to the latest report released by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (August 17).
In July alone, remittance inflows stood at $2.48 billion. The central bank’s updated data shows that in the 2024–25 fiscal year, Bangladesh received $30.33 billion in remittances — nearly 27 percent higher compared to the previous fiscal year.
In contrast, remittance inflows in the 2023–24 fiscal year amounted to $23.74 billion, marking the highest-ever remittance earnings in a single fiscal year. The continued growth in expatriate income has brought much-needed stability to the country’s economy and eased pressure on the supply of U.S. dollars.
