Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus stressed that his role is to facilitate the people’s will, not impose his own decisions. In an interview with Malaysia’s Bernama during a recent visit, he said, “I observe what the people want and help enable that.”

Invited by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Prof Yunus acknowledged challenges from political groups ousted in Bangladesh trying to destabilize the system. He described himself as a caretaker working to restore democratic processes amid authoritarianism and a flawed electoral system that blocked many from voting for over a decade.

“This time, everyone will have the chance to vote,” he said, highlighting the excitement of young voters casting their ballots freely for the first time in 15 years.
