Rescuers in northern Pakistan have recovered dozens of bodies overnight from homes devastated by landslides and flash floods. The disaster agencies report that the death toll has risen to at least 321 over the past two days as search efforts continue in the affected areas.
Hundreds of rescue workers are focused on finding survivors in the Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where intense rains and sudden cloudbursts triggered massive flooding on Friday. The floods swept away dozens of homes, leaving many communities devastated and struggling to cope with the sudden disaster.
Recovery efforts are concentrated in the villages of Pir Baba and Malik Pura, which sustained the highest number of casualties. According to local officials, the floodwaters arrived so quickly that many residents had no chance to leave their homes, worsening the impact of the calamity.
