The 1971 Provisional Government Committee at GSCMUN 2025 will be a historical cabinet simulation of the Provisional Government of Bangladesh, featuring key leaders and roles from the 1971 Liberation War. Delegates will assume positions such as Tajuddin Ahmad (Prime Minister), M. Mansur Ali (Finance Minister), Syed Nazrul Islam (Vice President), A.H.M. Kamaruzzaman (Home Minister), Ziaur Rahman (Military Officer), Ataul Gani Usmani (Commander-in-Chief, Mukti Bahini), Jagjit Singh Aurora (Indian Sector Commander, Eastern Command), General Tikka Khan (Pakistani Military Officer), and leaders of Z Force, K Force, and S Force.
The committee is designed to allow participants to recreate historical decision-making processes, understand wartime challenges, and experience the leadership and coordination that were critical to Bangladesh’s independence.
The simulation will be launched on 15th August, chosen deliberately to honour the memory of the nation’s martyred leaders and to reflect on the values of courage, sacrifice, and leadership that shaped Bangladesh’s history. This timing underscores the significance of remembering our past while educating young delegates on the responsibilities and complexities of governance during times of crisis.
