DMP imposes 25-hour ban on sky lanterns in Dhaka
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has prohibited the release of any kind of sky lanterns in the capital from 11:00pm on August 14 until midnight on August 15.
In a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Sajjat Ali on Thursday, the ban was announced under Section 28 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76).
The notice urged city residents to strictly comply with the directive.
