Testimony Begins in Purbachal Plot Corruption Cases Against Sheikh Rehana and Family
Dhaka’s Special Judge’s Court-4 has started recording testimony in three ACC cases over alleged irregularities in Purbachal plot allocations involving Sheikh Hasina’s sister Sheikh Rehana, her children Tulip Siddiq and Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and Azmina Siddiq.
Earlier, similar cases were filed against Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and daughter Saima Wazed Putul. In total, six cases involve Hasina’s family and 23 others, including former ministers, housing officials, and RAJUK executives.
The ACC claims the accused submitted false affidavits denying property ownership in Dhaka, despite owning houses, land, and vehicles, and allegedly obtained 60-katha plots through abuse of power—a crime punishable by life imprisonment. Investigations began in December 2024, with charges approved in March 2025, and the cases are now split between two Dhaka courts.
