Yunus Pledges Democracy, Stability, and 2026 Free Election

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, on a three-day official visit to Malaysia, vowed to strengthen democracy, ensure peace and stability, and hold a free, fair, and transparent election in February 2026.

Speaking at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), where he received an honorary doctorate in Social Business, Yunus dedicated the award to the people of Bangladesh and praised the youth who led the 2024 uprising against a “fascist regime.”

He outlined plans for a “new Bangladesh” with just governance, inclusive economy, and opportunities for all—emphasizing entrepreneurship, education, technology, and international cooperation.

The visit follows Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s trip to Bangladesh in October 2025.
