Makame Mahmud, who was imprisoned for raping a ninth-grader in 2018, is now NCP leader
On July 15, 2018, Makam Mahmud Mahi — then an intern doctor in the ENT department at Osmani Medical College, Sylhet — raped a 14-year-old 9th-grade student who had come to the hospital with her ailing grandmother.
The One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC) at Osmani Hospital confirmed the rape in its official report. An investigation committee formed by Osmani Medical College also verified the incident. The court sent him to jail.
Today, this convicted rapist holds a leadership position in the National Citizen Party (NCP).
