The Bangladesh Army has seized a large cache of local weapons from three shops in New Market, Dhaka, and arrested nine shopkeepers in connection with the raid. The announcement was made on Saturday night, August 9, at a press conference held at the Mohammadpur Sohrawardy Medical Camp by Lieutenant Colonel Nazim Ahmed, commander of the East Bengal Regiment-23.

Lieutenant Colonel Nazim Ahmed revealed that these weapons were found hidden in secret compartments within the three shops. He explained that such arms often appear in the showdowns of teenage gangs across Dhaka, being supplied by a criminal network to various terrorist groups. The seized weapons are sometimes even delivered to these groups via home delivery services.

Authorities are currently preparing to file cases at the police station regarding the incident.
