SPs, OCs to Be Transferred by Lottery Ahead of Elections: Home Affairs Adviser
Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Officers-in-Charge (OCs) across the country will be transferred through a lottery system ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (6 August), the adviser said the move is part of preparations outlined in the Chief Adviser’s recent address to ensure a free and fair election.
“DCs, SPs, UNOs and OCs play crucial roles during elections. Therefore, SPs and OCs will be reassigned before the election schedule is announced,” he said.
The meeting also reviewed logistical measures, including the deployment of body cameras at 47,000 polling centers and arrangements to ensure presiding officers remain stationed at their centers. Around 800,000 members of the army, police, BGB and Ansar will be deployed for election duties.
