Jamaat Secretary General Dismisses EC’s Election Roadmap as “Misleading, Immature”
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar has strongly criticized the Election Commission’s newly announced election roadmap, describing it as “conventional, misleading, and immature.”
In an instant reaction on Thursday night, Parwar said the nation expected the parliamentary election, scheduled for February next year, to be free, fair, and widely acceptable. “But the method of holding the polls is still unclear, and even the legal framework of the July National Charter and its implementation process remain unsettled,” he said.
He added that without finalizing the legal basis of the Charter, announcing a roadmap is “partial and far from people’s expectations.” Parwar stressed that restoring democracy in line with the spirit of the July Revolution requires completing these steps first.
