The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested him from Barishal based on allegations that he played a role in the attack and killing of a protester named Asadul Haque Babu during the July mass uprising. He is accused of using his influential position as a content creator and director of a TV channel to support the then-ruling government, provoke and intimidate protesters, and incite anti-movement forces that led to violence and the victim's death. His father, Nasir Uddin Sathi, was also arrested in relation to the same case. The case names several high-profile accused including the prime minister, and is under active investigation by CID
