Tawhid Afridi was arrested by the CID in Barishal on Sunday night. He had been in hiding since last year following the fall of the Awami League government.
At a hearing in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Monday, state prosecutor Advocate Nayon claimed, "During the protest, Tawhid Afridi filmed nude videos of students." The court approved a five-day remand for Afridi after hearing from both sides.
Earlier, on August 17, Afridi's father, Nasir Uddin Sathi, chairman of the private TV channel MyTV, was arrested in Gulshan in connection with the same case. The murder case stems from the killing of Asadul Haque Babu during an anti-discrimination protest on August 5 last year.
