A Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTA) double-decker bus collided with a pillar of the Elevated Expressway in the Farmgate area of Dhaka around 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 29. The bus became stuck under the expressway ramp, with the upper front part of the bus severely damaged. According to the police, one person sustained minor injuries.

Assistant Commissioner (Traffic) Anish Kirttania of the Tejgaon area informed the media, stating, "A bus collided with the ramp of the Elevated Expressway." Several videos of the incident, showing the bus wedged under the ramp, quickly spread on social media. Eyewitness Sujon Banik reported that two BRTA double-decker buses were racing side by side to pick up passengers. During this, the upper deck of the bus on the right side collided forcefully with the expressway pillar and got stuck in the ramp. The impact caused the upper deck to break off and fall to one side. Fortunately, there were fewer passengers on the upper deck, preventing major casualties. Passengers were seen jumping out of the windows afterward. The accident caused a temporary traffic disruption on this busy route, but the bus was cleared within a short period.
