At the request of the National Citizens Party (NCP), the Jatiyatabadi Chatradol has changed the venue of its scheduled rally. The student organization has decided to hold its rally tomorrow, Sunday, at Shahbagh instead of the Central Shaheed Minar. In this regard, the organization has expressed advance regret to the residents of Dhaka for any possible public inconvenience that may arise due to the rally.

On Saturday (August 2), the announcement was made in a press release signed by Md. Jahangir Alam, Office Secretary (with the rank of Vice President) of the organization.

According to the press release, the Jatiyatabadi Chatradol will hold its student rally tomorrow, Sunday, at Shahbagh in the capital. Earlier, while announcing a 36-day program in June to commemorate the “July Uprising,” the organization initially decided to hold the rally on August 3 at the Central Shaheed Minar. However, later, NCP leaders expressed their intention to hold a rally at the Shaheed Minar on the same day and repeatedly reached out personally to Chhatra Dal leaders with requests regarding the matter.

Although Chatradol had already secured official permission from the Dhaka University Proctor’s Office for the Shaheed Minar venue and was, in principle, the sole legitimate claimant for holding the rally there, the organization decided to shift the venue. As a liberal, democratic, and tolerant student organization that believes in coexistence of all views and ideologies, Chatradol ultimately chose to move its rally from the Shaheed Minar to Shahbagh.
