Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has announced that Bangladesh’s next national election is scheduled for February 2026. He made this declaration during a speech commemorating the first anniversary of the July Uprising.
“On behalf of the interim government, I will formally request the chief election commissioner to arrange the national election in February 2026, ahead of Ramadan,” Professor Yunus stated in his address.
Ramadan is anticipated to begin on February 17 or 18 next year, meaning the election must be held before the holy month commences.
