In response to the current fuel crisis and electricity shortages in Bangladesh, the government has issued directives aimed at reducing air conditioning (AC) usage in several key ministries. The ministries impacted include the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, and the Ministry of Railways, along with their related departments and companies. This initiative is intended to conserve energy during the upcoming winter months.

Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, who oversees both the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Ministry of Railways, conveyed this directive. The government urges all relevant ministries to comply with this order from November to February, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing electricity supply for agricultural irrigation, fertilizer production, and industrial gas requirements.

In addition to the AC usage restrictions, the government had previously advised all ministries to cut electricity consumption by 25%. The power and energy advisor has called for cooperation across all sectors to ensure the effective implementation of these measures and to tackle the ongoing energy challenges.
