Police in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, arrested 20 people—8 from Bangladesh and 12 Rohingyas—on October 15. They were trying to sneak onto boats to get to Malaysia. The raid happened in the Dakshin Lombaripara area after reports of a gathering for this illegal trip. Three brokers were also caught, but some people ran away. Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Ghiyas Uddin said a group has been tricking victims into paying large amounts of money for this illegal travel. Among those rescued were women and children.
