The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said three people were killed in the earthquake on Friday morning. DGHS Director (Hospitals and Clinics) Abu Hossain Md. Mainul Ahsan said three people died while undergoing treatment at Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital.
One of the deceased has been identified as Rafiul Islam, a second-year student at Dhaka Medical College.
Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Mallik Ahsan Uddin told Prothom Alo in the morning that three people were killed on the spot when the railing of a building in the Kasaituli area collapsed during the earthquake. They were walking along the road. Fire service and police members visited the scene. Police could not immediately reveal the names and identities of the deceased in the morning.
